Handle with care...

If you are getting tired of all the blue cards of late, hang in there, I am sure my "blue period" will be over at some point... ;-)
This is another card using a sponged ink background. This one is hidden by some stamped text afterwards, but I just love this blue hue! (yes, it is my favorite color... ;-)) The rest is pretty straightforward with a distressed heart and more stamping.

This heart has been through some pretty rough times, you could even say it's been crumpled!... ;-)

Love Graffiti

When I saw the brick embossing folder, I don't know why but I instantly thought about a wall with graffiti on it... So I went along with this idea, combining it with a teenage vibe... You know, those high school years... that crush you scribble the name of all over your notebooks, and draw tons of hearts everywhere?... That's what I wanted to recreate... ;-) Everything is a little blended together because, you know, it's an old wall, and it's been a while since high school!... LOL ;-) Now stepping back, it seems to me like a bit of a dirty wall/project, but then again that kind of was my idea, wasn't it?... ;-)

I used My Thoughts Exactly "Lovey Puns- food" stamps for the love messages...

We're a great team...

This is this year's Valentine for my hubby.
It might be a little unconventional but I wasn't really into hearts and stuff... ;-) I don't know why but I really wanted to have those little astronauts together... and since I made a card for Noah (see next post) with a little alien, this team card makes more sense... together they tell a story...
I think we are a great team on the planet parenthood!....
You can't really see on the pic but I gave myself little gold earrings and wedding band, and I made my eyes green and my hubby's blue... I love having fun with details... ;-) The stars and accents on the suits are also colored with glitter pens.
I kept being unhappy with the card but couldn't figure out why...I think it is the coloring that bugs me - ah, if only I had copic markers! *sigh* LOL ;-) - or maybe the no-ribbon?....
Anyway, the recipient loved it, and that's all that matters!... :-)

First Valentine...

I made this little card today using my new PaperTrey Ink set "a Punny Valentine".
This little squirrel is just too cute ;-)
I think it will be Naomi's Valentine's day card if she doesn't find it before then!... She loves strawberries! :-)
Several layers are on dimensionals, and the squirrel, pie & big strawberry are heat embossed with clear powder.
I also used the tiny flower from the "Borders & corners (circle)" set.
The scalloped oval is of course made with Nestabilities, now that I am looking at it, it makes me think of a big dollop of whipped cream ;-) LOL
As always, if you click on the pic a giant version will appear! (you'll then see the yellow dots on the strawberries, the funny paper frill on the strawberry-heart, and the tiny strawberry flowers...and the green eye on the squirrel!... ;-) )
I would have loved to add a little ribbon or a prima in there but it was already overcrowded as it is, but I like it that way: bright, cheery and juicy strawberries for my little Mimi, and a little sneaky squirrel that loves strawberry pie so much that he's sitting in it! ;-D
I think she'll love it!... :-)

Ducky love

There's a story behind this cute card I made today for... my husband. Yes, I know, you thought it was for the birthday of a 5 years old but it's not....
When I showed him my new stamps the other day, we looked at the "Essential sentiments" from MFT, and I was commenting on how I might not see myself using some of them too often, like the "Hey Sexy!" one for example. I told him he was likely the only person who would ever get a card from me with that on... So that explains the sentiment...
Now, don't you love my cute little ducky? When I showed my hubby the cool set of little penguins (From C.C. Designs at All that scraps) I bought for my daughter (with the promise she would let me use them, LOL) he took a look and told me "It's cool you can even use it for ducks!" I admit I hadn't thought of that (yet!)... so that explains why there is a duck on a card for a 42 years old! LOL
I tried coloring the little guy but wasn't too happy with the result so I finally stamped him on yellow cardstock.
The heart is from "Boho Blossom" by MFT. I clear embossed the heart and the ducky and really love the glossy finish it gave them. It was a little complicated because I had already cut things out when I thought about the gloss so I had to hold Mr Ducky with tweezers by the little cowlick on his head! :-)
I wanted to sponge the borders of my green square but I forgot to do so before gluing the paper so it staid bare.... :-S The heart and the duck are on dimensionals.
As always you can see the details by clicking on the pic. (the little guy is even cuter in big size!! ;-) )
Stamps: "Essential sentiments" and "Boho Blossom" from My favorite Things, "Little penguins" by C.C. Designs.
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy, Versamark.

LOVE

Yesterday was our anniversary, so I made my 1st "Love card"...

It is a little flashy and very glittery, LOL, but I had fun and used the "Love you to pieces" stamps set dear to my heart, since every time someone buys it, some money is donated to Autism Speaks. The puzzle piece is the symbol of autism, and my little guy has autism.I used some patterned paper from Valentines'day... and even though my picture doesn't really show it well, the puzzles pieces are mounted on pop-a-dots, and the weird thing on the heart is a little piece of ribbon thread through it.
If I had more time I would have made a 2nd version with paler colors (the heart is way too bright I think) and brown stamped shadows around the puzzles pieces but I didn't have time so...!
I'm sure I'll do something a little more subdued next time!... ;-)

But my husband loved the card and said "It's about love so it cannot be too red or too glittery!" LOL! ;-)

If you love those stamps you can find them here : http://shop.stampingfreak.com/product.sc?categoryId=31&productId=409/ (You can also get them unmounted if you like it better).
