Christmas Gatefold

I made this gatefold card for the christmas challenge on SVGCuts.com. I used their gatefold card as a base (freebie). I ran it into my Cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder, then distressed it to reveal the paper's white core. The little stars and Christmas tree sliders are from the Buckles collection.

Inside I created a little scenery of 3 gingerbread men/women enjoying a cup of hot cocoa next to the Christmas tree... ;-) It's my husband who came up with the "concept" and I thought it was a fun idea... Everything is from the "Christmas Cookie Party" collection, except the gifts I made myself (bow is from the collection), and the tree skirt doily (from the baking section...). I used foam tape of course for dimension, and bended the little arms. My favorite part has to be the little marshmallows in the hot cocoa... Yum! ;-)
My husband thinks the eyes are a little creepy but my daughter loves them!...(she and I decided against red eyes because it looked too "evil"!...;-)) The star on the tree is a brad, and I used plenty of rhinestones.

As always, clicking on the pics will give you a bigger version. It's really hard to get the dimension on a pic. I still have to figure out all the wonders of this camera... ;-)
This card will likely go to my niece for Christmas. She loves everything papercrafted, and religiously keep all the cards I send her and likes to look at them or display them. I think she'll enjoy this one too. :-D
I sure had fun making it (well, aside from cutting out those tiny marshmallows with my big hands!... ;-))

Hanukkah lever cards

Last week-end I did a workshop for an event at our synagogue. Those are the Hannukah cards I made as models.
I used SVGCuts files, (and yes it took me forever to prep everything, my Cricut was in a rebellious state of mind and I had a few issues..). I started with lever cards as a base, then used the "jewish elements" file.

I used glitter glue for the flames, if I hadn't been mass producing I would have used little rhinestones instead.
The great shiny foil I used for my candleholders, already mentioned on my blog before, is from Puff tissues boxes! :-) The menthol tissues come in a box that is silver coated inside. Almost makes you want to have a cold more often so you can scrap...

Harvest frame

Tonight marks the beginning of Sukkot, a jewish Holiday celebrating different things including the Harvest.
I made this little wreath for my friends who invited us to celebrate the 1st night of the holiday with them.
I turned it more into a frame by adding a prayer in hebrew that has to do with Sukkot in the middle (hard to see in the pic).
I used all SVGCuts.com files, except the fruits that I made myself by hand. I started with the Laurel Wreath (that I stretched to 11X11), then because it's a Harvest celebration (some people refer to it as the jewish Thanksgiving) I included details of Fall like the mums, the pumpkins, the maple and oak leaves, and the fruits at the top.

Then at the bottom are 2 things very specific to this Holiday: a lulav and an etrog. I won't go too much into details but those are things used for prayers and celebrations. The lulav is a little bunch of certains tree branches including palms and myrtle, and the etrog is a fruit from the citrus family, kind of like a giant lemon.
I used various files for my branches (including a cornstalk turned into a palm... ;-)) and made my lemon by hand.

Because I didn't know if this was gonna be hung outside (and we are in Florida so the heat and humidity are still very much here) I used a hot glue gun to attach my little decorations.
Because I turned it into a frame I didn't prop things forward too much, and just folded some of the leaves forward as much as possible.

If it didn't take me that long I would definitely make another one for my own home... ;-)
As always clicking on the pic will open larger pictures. :-)

ETA: My wreath tied for 3rd place in the challenge! :-D

Happy Hanukkah!

There is still one night of Hanukkah, so technically I am not late yet...
OK, well, I mailed those out late so they won't make it on time, but you know what they say "It's the thought that counts"! :-) Sorry the pics are bad because I took them in the sun, I had to mail them right away!.... The cards are very simple, there was no time for more! I embossed them with gold or silver embossing powder on beautiful shimmery cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I know in the pic you can't see the shimmer in the paper, but IRL it is really gorgeous.
Everything is really late this year, I am way behind, but baby won't!! ;-)
I hope everyone had a happy Holiday! :-)

Mini briefcase gift-card holders

I made those little briefcase gift-card holders for Noah's teachers and therapist. They were fun and easy to make, no need for a template or anything. They are closed with velcro, and I just stamped and wrote my little message in there instead of making a card.
The inside is pretty much the same for all 3, I just colored the cat in different colors.. :-)
The only problem is I discovered when I uploaded the pics, that the Prismacolor markers bled through the cardstock and made stains on the front of the light blue holder! :-( Luckily the paper has kind of an uneven color pattern so it almost looks like it's part of the paper pattern!... Phew...
Wouldn't those look cute hanging in a Christmas tree with little name tags attached to the handle?...

Stationery set with My Timeless Templates

First let me tell you my pictures are horrendous, they're night pics and the colors are totally off and I can't seem to be able to fix that, so my apologies!... I want to gift-wrap this tonight since it's a gift for Naomi's teacher (to accompany some Ghirardelli chocolates) and I want her to take it with her to school tomorrow or I'm afraid I'll forget later on in the week!...)...
So, I made a little stationery set, using Lauren's template for the box (My timeless templates, available through PaperTrey Ink). By now you know how easy those are to use... ;-)
The card at the top of my post, with its "not-so-holiday-colors" is my card to go with the gift. Then you have the box closed, then the box opened (I used "Polka dots basic" to stamp my contrasting strips), and finally a sample of the cards and enveloppes. I made 4 of each, 2 different coordinating colors.
The polka dots strips on the cards are run through the Cuttlebug then inked, the little monogram circles and initials are from PaperTrey Ink.
It is a very simple set but I don't know the teacher very well and I think she isn't into frilly stuff... so I went with what I would like to get!! LOL! ;-) I hope she likes it, if not she can always use it to light up a fire in the fireplace while eating the chocolates! ;-)

Holiday card? *gasp*

Yes, I know, I don't do Holiday cards!!! ;-)
But this year being as crazy as it is, I decided there would be no "real gift" *gasp* (well, aside from our kids obviously! ;-)), only gift-cards or even checks... so I need to put those in a card! And since our Holiday card consists of a pic of the kids, and with everyone being really sick we haven't even taken said pic... You see where I am going with this! Hanukkah is in a mere 8 days and Christmas barely 10!...
So anyway, this is a card I made for my brother & family. I really like the mix of blue, white and gold for the Holidays, I am very anti red+green! LOL! ;-)
(Sorry the pic is a little blurry but you get the idea...)
Everything gold is heat embossed with gold powder, it adds a nice texture. The dove stamp is from Stampendous.
I used my new papertreyInk set "basic polka Dots" that I had been coveting for a while... the enabler was the baby to come, since I have plans to use this set for the birth announcements or most likely for the thank-yous matching the birth announcements (more about those another time, I don't want to spoil all the surprise yet! ;-)...)

Thanksgiving memory booklet

This is another version of the little brag book, this time I made a little Thanksgiving memory book. Sorry the pics are bad, I took them at night and it's a little blurry and over or under exposed! :-(
The left booklet is for Naomi, she made little drawings of what she is thankful for on paper doilies cut with square nestabilities and wrote on the opposite page about it.
The right booklet is for us parents, we didn't get a chance to jot down our thoughts yet but we will soon... :-) Maybe we'll write a little note for Noah since he cannot yet, something about what he really seems to enjoy in life right now, so we can remember later on!♥
I had fun working on this with Naomi, she was proud to be included in it and I will love looking at this when she is a teenager! LOL! :-)
The little squirrel on the cover is from PaperTrey Ink, the stamps inside are a Holiday set from Martha Stewart at Michaels (lots of cool images in there).
(Sorry for the bad pics, but I took them in the sun...)

Merry Christmas

A Merry Christmas to you all.
May you spend a wonderful and joyful time with family. ♥

(The card is from Naomi, she made it for Lauren's daughter but we couldn't send it on time *shame*, I used my computer to erase the Alexa at the bottom of the card so that it is now for all of you here! ;-)...)

Happy Hanukkah

Hannukah is soon to be over and my Hannukah cards haven't made it to the mail box.... *shame* and I just realized I didn't even wish anyone here a Happy Hanukkah! (That's what happens when you have several blogs, you get confused on what you wrote where!...)
I don't know if any of my fellow scrap-bloggers here (or lurker-readers?) are jewish but I wish you all a very Happy Hanukkah.
May the lights of this season shine upon your life all year long.
I love this Holiday and the symbolism of light.♥
Anyway, I made those 2 cards this morning. I was thinking about a friend of mine. I never met her in real life but "know" her through e-mails, phone calls or messenger for almost 3 years now (waow, time really flies!!) She has an autistic son too and when my son was about to be diagnosed I turned to an online french community and started looking for answers, that's where I "met" her. She lives in NY state and has no family around and I thought that a little holiday cheer couldn't hurt. :-)
Those are 2 "spur of the moment" cards. For the 1st one I had this idea of the frame with the saying on the paper peeking through so I went with that and the second one actually was born from a piece of yellow cardstock I fell upon, where I had tried my scallop punch (the Martha Stewart one that looks like lace) and from the spool of ribbon I had just finished with the 1st card (the cardstock semi-circle down there is the spool side).
I'm sure by now you have guessed I don't own any Hannukah stamps... ;-)
Now I better write those cards and get them to the mailbox!

Holidays

Found this kit of pattern papers at Oriental Trading. It does make the job quite easy!... :-) Of course I added some Stickles here and there... ;-)
I said I wouldn't make holiday cards this year but I figured I might need a few to put in gift packages...

Lizzie Anne Contest

I told you a few posts ago, about the Lizzie Anne contest.

I don't own any Lizzie Anne stamps (yet, LOL!) and it was the only requirement of the contest. The cards will be donated to Cards for Cancer afterwards.
So Lauren very kindly offered to send me some stamped images of my choice... They arrived yesterday and my card was in the mail this morning. Phew, now that was some deadline!! I hope my card makes it on time!....

I already told you I don't make holiday cards (yet) so I wanted to make one for a change...
I had the vision in my head, so when the images arrived I went right to work. And I already had my background ready, (thanks to playing with my Cuttlebug the day before...).I cut the window (that was the hardest part!!) with my X-acto blade to show the blue paper behind where I drew snowflakes with my watercolor pencil, and I added this tiny little snowman in the low corner... Of course the window is popped on double-sided foam tape, which you can't see from my lousy pic....
The big snowman is also on foam. I didn't have colored Stickles so I decided to use my daughter's 3D glue pens. What a sticky mess, the mittens took forever to dry!! :-S Looks like there is a reason why they make adult versions of that stuff!! LOL
I used gold glitter glue to stiffen the little thread that was holding my mittens so that they don't fall on each other (and stick to each other!).
As usual by clicking on the pic you get a huge version that will enable you to see details if you wish...
I kind of like the result, even though it is a "childish" card (but winter holidays are all about childhood memories for me), but given the time it took (2 hours?) I am nowhere near starting to make that kind of cards in a mass production! Or I would have to start January 1st to have them ready for the following December... I keep telling myself that once I am more experienced I will work faster but so far I am a slow learner! LOL!
ETA: I just checked the winners'cards on Lizzie Anne website... Waow!!!
There was obviously no way I could have been up there but it was a fun experience all the same!... ;-)
